Synopsis:
Who Loves the Sun is a thoughtful, evocative portrayal of friendship, love, longing and the sometimes static nature of life. Combining the powers of observance and understatement, director Matt Bissonnette is able to render an emotional tale of three friends who struggle to find meaning in their lives. Will Morrison (LUKAS HAAS) and Daniel Bloom (ADAM SCOTT) were the best of friends. They grew up together. Went to the same schools. Liked the same records. Loved the same girls. Daniel was Will's best man at his wedding to Maggie Claire (MOLLY PARKER). Then one day Will disappeared without a word. Half a decade later he re-surfaces and sets off a tsunami of unforeseeable events. Who Loves the Sun features perfectly pitched performances, a great soundtrack from Portastatic, songs from Silver Jews, and some hilariously realistic bad fighting. Director's Bio:
Matt Bissonnette was born in Montreal. He studied English and Film at Concordia University. Following a lame punk rock career, he read Law at Queen's University, was called to the Ontario bar, but retired two weeks later. With childhood friend Steven Clark he wrote and directed LOOKING FOR LEONARD which premiered at SXSW in 2002. WHO LOVES THE SUN is his first solo feature. | |
