Synopsis:
A little girl finds acceptance in embracing her own difference. This whimsically lyrical film has the timeless charm of an old fable - one whose subject is difference and self-affirmation. Through images evoking the rich texture of a woodblock print, the filmmaker has created a world of contrasts complemented by a lively soundtrack with a rhythmic beat.

Director's Bio:
Regina Pessoa was born in 1969 in Coimbra, Portugal, and in 1992 began working as an animator at Film-grafo, a small Portuguese animation studio. In 1999, she made her first short film, A noite/The Night, which received numerous awards and honors. Her latest work, Historia tragica com final feliz / Tragic Story with Happy Ending was produced at the French animation studio Folimage under its Artist-in-Residence program, in which the National Film Board of Canada's Animation and Youth Studio is associated as a co-producer.
