Synopsis:
Election Day follows a dozen voters over a single day, November 2, 2004, from dawn until long past midnight. An ex-felon in New York votes for the first time in his life at age 50, a factory worker in Oklahoma debates gay marriage with his co-workers, and a frenzied pollworker in Ohio tries to maintain her sanity amidst chaotic lines of voters. While the mainstream media focuses on "red states" vs. "blue states," Election Day moves beyond the horserace to look at the stories of the electorate itself.
Director's Bio:
Katy Chevigny is an award-winning filmmaker who co-directed the Emmy-nominated documentary Deadline in 2004. She has produced five feature-length documentaries, is currently in post-production on The Dishes, and recently completed Election Day. Chevigny runs the non-profit Arts Engine, whose projects include MediaRights.org and the Media That Matters Film Festival.
