Overview of SXSW Conferences + Festivals

SXSW Music

Now in its 22nd year, the SXSW Music Conference and Festival remains the largest and most vital recording industry conference and festival in the western hemisphere. For 21 years, the SXSW Music Conference and Festival has been one of the most influential musical events in America, and throughout the world. The SXSW 2007 Music Conference and Festival drew more than 12,000 music industry professionals for compelling panels, industry discussions, demo listening sessions, trade show exhibits, and as always, five nights of top quality music by nearly 1,500 bands hailing from points as close to home as Austin and as far away as New Zealand, Korea, and Iran.

Activities Include:

  • 4 days of music industry conference events including panels, listening sessions, Q&A's with high profile music industry figures
  • 3 days of music industry trade show events with live, unplugged musical performances and featuring over 200 exhibitors representing dozens of music industry services (management, media, record labels, online services, etc.)
  • 5 nights of cutting edge music festival showcases on approximately 70 stages, featuring over 1,500 performing acts from across the globe
  • 3 evenings of free-to-the-public, high profile outdoor concerts on the Town Lake (now named Lady Bird Lake) Stage (SXSW's largest stage); previous talent highlights include Public Enemy, Iggy Pop, Los Lonely Boys, Mastadon, Ben Harper, and more

SXSW Film

The SXSW Film Conference and Festival (SXSW Film) continues to be a top tier independent film event that has succeeded in its attempt to blend enthusiastic crowds with the leaders of the film industry. New and veteran filmmakers alike converge in Austin with thousands of film afficianados for a one-of-a-kind festival. Between educational panels and premiere screenings, SXSW Film has maintained its vision of celebrating ingenuity.

Activities Include:

Four days of captivating keynote presentations and scintillating panel sessions provide hands-on training as well as big-picture analysis of the future of this industry.
