Dreamend
Dreamend is an ensemble which deals in the lonely sound of late nights and ghost towns. Layers of atmospheric sound and melody intertwine closely to conjure landscapes made of longing, alternately tender and practically possessed; the end result treads the ground between a haunted country orchestra and the faded scenery of half-remembered dreams.
With 2002's Preface, a split EP with Monster Movie, Dreamend provided an introduction to their particular blend of forceful percussion and ethereal guitar. Following in 2004 came As If By Ghosts, weaving together warm textures and intimate, aching vocals to produce a rich, regretful sound that lingers with the listener long after the last song has ended. With Dreamend's most recent release, Maybe We're Making God Sad and Lonely, this expansive, elegiac mood reaches new heights. Replete with delicate bells and a ghost story, Maybe We're Making God Sad and Lonely emanates an otherworldly glow which is easy to become lost in. |
