Power Pill Fist

Power Pill Fist is not an alter ego, but rather the full ego of Black Moth Super Rainbow bassist, Ken. A noise/rock/fat-beat hybrid created almost solely on the Atari 2600, PPF is the sweatiest of all video game chip musicians. His live show is a mix of crushing 4-bit noise and ass moving thump. Combining live Atari manipulation, old school reel to reel tape noise, and acoustic guitar, Power Pill sets out to confuse, and ultimately convert his crowd to the way of the Fist.
"KONGMANIVONG (2007)" is Power Pill Fist's 2nd full-length and is as thick as it is long. At times it has more kick than you would ever expect from a noise album, and at others it is as disorienting as a dream about dreaming. Pounding Atari tones become organized enough for people who eat rock music, and random enough for people who eat too much or don't eat anything all day. It is thought that listening to this record in the bathtub will add a dense layer of glowing hair to your emotions. PPF's first album, "Extra Life (2005)" was an awesome first date with the digital football sorcerer that combined sweet beats with the greasy chip melodies Power Pill does best. It showed his knack for making songs that don't necessarily sound like a videogame soundtrack, while using a seemingly narrow palette. The first batch of "Extra Life" orders were shipped with homemade Power Pill Fist art projects. They ranged from boxes lovingly adorned with pictures of Pittsburgh Steelers announcer, Myron Cope and full of macaroni, to melted G.I.Joes with real pieces of Atari electronics. When not busy constructing his full records, Power Pill likes to pull out his tape reel machine to record live, impromptu sessions with another chosen artist for his highly limited 3"CDR "VS" series. Now known as Graveface Records' resident DJ, you can find PPF performing between Graveface artists' sets or on tour with Black Moth Super Rainbow. Although he doesn't exactly spin records, he will know how to freak you out. Power Pill Fist wants to wipe the crust from your third eye and do aerobics in your psychic wall. |
