Andrew Bird is a multi-instrumentalist acclaimed for his compelling live shows and inventive songwriting. The last three years, two studio albums, and constant touring have bred a consensus that Bird, as songwriter and performer, has come into his own. His 2005 album, "The Mysterious Production of Eggs," was universally received as both his most ambitious and accessible, and was a favorite of fans and supporters, from NPR producers, mainstream and alternative print critics, to 'zine kids and bloggers, and an expanding set of live-tape traders worldwide. Eggs amassed press raves from Paste, Magnet, Entertainment Weekly, The Onion, Pitchfork and the New York Times, among many others, and appeared on numerous Best of 2005 lists. An ever-growing legion of fans anxiously await the release of his follow up album, Armchair Apocrypha, to be released by Fat Possum Records March 20, 2007.
