  Holy Fuck - Lovley Allen

Holy Fuck were an instant band. Armed with a fearless determination to make chaotic and exciting dance music without modern fail-safes such as laptops, midi, or drum machines, they hit the stage as a concept, no songs, no rehearsals. The response was ecstatic. Glowing live reviews poured in from Canada's top print media, Exclaim, Now, Eye, Chart. They hit mega-festivals like SXSW, CMJ, and Pop Montreal. At the latter festival they gained the attention of Brooklyn based MC and ex-Antipop collaborator Beans. Within only a few months of being a band they were invited to Coachella as Beans backing band.

Holy Fuck wanted to do things their own way, dismissing suggestions of adding female vocals and yelpy hooks. They released the first full length CD on their own label, Dependent. Despite the lack of vocal, despite warnings of an 'unmarketable band name', the band went on to critical acclaim throughout Canada.

They hit the stage touring with Wolf Parade, Metric, Spank rock, Hot Chip, Chad VanGaalen, and Do Make Say Think. By the end of 2006 it was obvious that they were not a counter action against the new Canadian sound, but an extension of it, where it is going in 2007.

"As though Canada had not done enough Holy Fuck happen to be about the single greatest energy unleashed by this country in recent years
and that is saying something. Wet your pants time this is."
