Bleubird
“He's one of the most positive yet bitter MCs you'll ever have the pleasure of nodding your head to. In a single line, he'll sound as political as Noam Chomsky, as dirty as 2 Live Crew and as emotionally fragile as a young girl's diary entry.” Raf katigbak (Montreal Mirror)
Bleubird is a one man explosion using only voice and words to reach the masses, and a CD player. Performing live since 1998, he started in the Florida scene with Nature Kids and SMTH and became a solo artist in 2001 after the break up of SMTH. Since going solo he has toured USA, Canada and Europe with the likes of Grand Buffet, Sole, Astronautalis, Zucchini Drive and others. His debut album, "Sloppy Doctor," was released on Endemik Music in 2003 and he has also released group projects such as Gunporn and Les Swash Buckling Napoleans. He has appeared on various albums such as Sole, Grand Buffet, jdwalker and many others. Bleubird's next album, "rip usa (the birdfleu)", is released in North America and Europe on February 27, 2007 and in Japan on February 9, 2007. The St.Cloud Chronicle says "The energy on "RIP USA: The Bird" makes it feel like an old Black Flag or Clash album. The lyrics are like a strange mix of Chuck D and Hunter Thompson, with the wit of Jello Biafra. ..."RIP USA: The Bird Fleu" is an essential for fans of the new hip hop scene. " Now living in Montreal, Bleubird has worked with Sixtoo, Subtitle, Sole, Alias, Nuccini (of Italian post-rock outfit Giardini di Miro) and most recently Otto Von Schirach of Ipecac Recordings. In this age of war, confusion, and numbness, Bleubird comes barging in unhindered and unannounced. Flying the flags of rebellion, honesty, and self-expression, his music is the reflection of a life lived within the struggle; the soundtrack of an artist attempting to swim against the current without drowning or shedding his integrity. |
