Asakusa Jinta

A hardcore marching brass band from Asakusa (Tokyo, Japan).
Their music style is a mixture of rockabilly, up-tempo country, punk and Japanese Enka and Kayokyoku from the '30s. Their base is Asakusa, Tokyo's old downtown, an area reminiscent of traditional Japan. Asakusa Jinta's music theme is the joy and sorrow of life and "Giriand Ninjo," the spirt of traditional Japanese emotions such as sympathy, compassion, love and friendships. Their music also incorporates accordions, saxophones and trombones, all playing lightning fast, happy melodies while stand-up bass and drums and tubas throw down polka-style rhythms. Dynamite Osho: Vocal, Wood Base, Ukulele Shinya Niji : Guitar, Banjo Hiro: Accordion, Keyboards. Mikachinto: Soprano & Alt Sax Butter Ken : Trombone & Tuba Doc: Drum & percussion Matsukura: VJ 1999 - Dinamite Osho from ex:Death March Kantai formed a band called Mach March Japonica. 2000 - Changed the name to Hyakki no Gyoretu and started marching in the street in Asakusa area. 2001 - Released 1st album "Today is kyo and Horror" 2002 - Released 2nd album "Dangerous guy in Asakusa" 2003 Released 3rd album "This is Asakusa, Sweetheart Town" Japanese famous Rakugoka (Japanese traditional story telling comedian), Sanyutei Koyuza gave them the new name "Asakusa Jinta" 2004 - Became the first guest member of Rakugo Association as a Rock band; had a joint concert with Sanyutei Koyuza at Tokyo Art Theater in March; performed at the Asakusa Festival with Japanese leading Kakugoka. 2005 - Released new album "Asakusa Rock" supported by Rakugo art association; many leading Rakugoka played instruments in this album and the famous comedian and film director, TAKESHI KITANO wrote the title song, "Asakusa Rock." Nominated to perform at the Japan Foundation festival in Stockholm. 2006 - Japanese Horror movie"NEKOME KOZO (Cat's-Eye Boy) " (original story by Kazuo Umezu/ Directed by Nobuo Iguchi) theme song with the famous horror anime writer, Kazuo Umezu. The movie was released June 2006. |
