The Lemurs
Replete with angular guitars, driving bass, layered melodies, and an energetic live performance, the Lemurs are Mitch Billeaud (guitar/vocals), Davy Click (guitar/keyboard/vocals), Justin Mosley (bass/vocals), Sean Conner (keyboards/samples), and Danny Reisch (drums). The Lemurs initially formed in the spring of 2004 while Mitch was finishing his degree in Music at Texas State University. Inspired more by the DIY attitude of the independent music scene than his classes, Mitch began recruiting available musicians to form an initial working line-up. The first incarnation of the band, including Danny and Davy (also Music students at Texas State), recorded an album's worth of material that was never released. Without a stable line-up, Mitch, Danny, and Davy continued to write and rehearse while auditioning new bass players and keyboardists. Over the course of a few weeks, Mitch and Sean became good friends while playing pick-up soccer matches in the park. With very similar musical tastes and ideas, Mitch and Sean began writing together, and Sean started showing up to Lemurs practices. Quickly, the band started writing new material, but it wasnt until the addition of Justin Mosley, Seans long time friend and former band mate, that everything solidified for the Lemurs. With rejuvenated excitement and the correct chemistry, the Lemurs began writing as a band, playing shows around Austin and focusing on the excitement of live performance. Through hours and hours of rehearsal over the next year and a half, the Lemurs refined their sound and began attracting the attention of fans and critics alike in their home town of Austin, TX. In late 2005, the Lemurs recorded an eight track EP that was self-released in September 2006.
