The Monas - Cae la noche
Download   |   Stream
The Monas follow an old rock and roll tradition with their no frills back to basics approach. This is Latin rock for generations past and present. Pipe (vocals/guitar), Juan (drums), Nando (guitar) and Francisco (bass) met in Miami Beach in the year 2000. Juan and Francisco had already had a taste of success back in their native Colombia, with a # 1 hit, a platinum album and opening concerts at stadiums for artists such as Shakira with their previous band Los de Adentro. They later met Pipe, a young session guitar player, and Nando, both from Colombia and the lineup was complete. The Monas decided to record at The Audiolounge Recording Studios (Miami,Fl) where they met with A&R rep Dennis Murcia, who also happened to sign and produce Juan and Francisco’s previous band’s album for Sony Music. “After hearing the quality of the songwriting and musicianship, I signed them on the spot” said Dennis, “The Monas are the real thing, write their songs effortlessly in Spanish and English, and perform great live. The complete package, and in an age of computer artists, it is very exciting to be able to work with career artists like The Monas”.

The Monas self titled debut album is available in the US under the WATTSUP! record label, and has been simultaneously released in Colombia under Codiscos. The first single and video is “Cae La Noche”. The video is currently being played on MTV, LATV, Mun2, HTV and more. THE MONAS won the 2006 Billboard Latin Conference New Talent showcase, and were invited to perform at the Latin Grammy Street party in Los Angeles on October 22nd. Thier song "Cae la noche is a top 5 hit in rock radio in Colombia, and is quickly burning up indie and college radio stations in the US. Rolling Stone magazine Latin American edition gave THE MONAS ***1/2 stars.
