Air Traffic - a young, dynamic, talented quartet who play what is best described as piano-led indie rock.
These four 20-year-olds formed in an abandoned aircraft hanger where air traffic control signals would come through their amplifiers. Originally from the sea-side town of Bournemouth, the band hit the scene in 2004, playing mostly south coast venues before moving to London late 2005 to maximize their exposure. Their single "Never Even Told Me Her Name" was released on October 30, 2006. The track lead up a four-track EP of new music, and was their first release since signing to EMI Records last year. Their new single "Charlotte" will be released in March 2007 and will be followed this summer by a highly anticipated debut album. Already being championed by the likes of Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Jo Whiley and playlisted at Radio 1, tipped by NME, who likened the band to “Supergrass covering Little Richard,” The Fly & The Sunday Times, their debut single ‘Just Abuse Me/ Charlotte’ on Club Fandango/Fierce Panda sold out in a matter of days. The single release comes alongside a huge nationwide tour that is fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in town. The band has spent much of the summer holed up recording their highly anticipated debut album at Rockfield studios in Wales, and fans will get the first taste of these majestic songs across the dates. Air Traffic are: Chris Wall – Vocals, Piano, Guitar / David Ryan Jordan – Drums / Jim Maddock – Bass / Tom Pritchard – Guitar // |
