Land of Talk will release their acclaimed debut mini album Applause Cheer Boo Hiss in the U.S. on March 20th via The Rebel Group. The Montreal-based trio of singer/guitarist Liz Powell, bassist Chris McCarron and drummer Bucky Wheaton originally released their rock solid 7-song mini album in Canada in May 2006. Not long after, word of mouth spread as the band was embraced by music bloggers. After several shows in NYC, the buzz had reached a fevered pitch. Land of Talk found early supporters and fans in such blogs as Brooklyn Vegan and Stereogum, Paste Magazine and tastemaking radio stations such as Seattle's KEXP and LA's KCRW. Putting the ROCK back in indie rock, Land of Talk's sound is fueled by Liz's stunning, unforgettable vocal melodies, haunting lyrics and a unique guitar style that mixes lush chord voicings with the dissonant urgency of Thurston Moore.

"Too good to be true" – BrooklynVegan.com

"Simply the most perfect debut of 2006 – a collection of shimmering, chord-rich songs that brighten and buzz like a sparkler on a summer night" – Paste Magazine

"On our very short list of best debut record of the Year" – Stereogum.com

"Holy Crap. This is GREAT" – John Richards, KEXP Seattle Morning Show
