Shout Out Out Out Out

Shout Out Out Out Out play dance music. Made up of two drummers and four bass players who grew up playing in a variety of punk/rock bands, over the course of time the six members wound up becoming obsessed with electro, tech-house, and computer disco.
Shout Out Out Out Out are quite comfortable straddling the fence between the energy and live-performance of being in a rock band, and the exciting bump of crafting a slamming club track for the DJs. To them the energy is the same, and the end result is the same, which is probably why their live shows are creating so much buzz. And it is quite a spectacle: two drummers pounding away in unison with skillfully sequenced sampler beats, while the other four members alternate chaotically between hammering on their respective bass guitars and adjusting enough analog synthesizers and gadgets to make any gear nerd sweat, while overtop of it all a robotic vocoder voice is juxtaposed with tragically human lyrics. All six members of Shout Out Out Out Out are prominent figures in the exceptionally strong and breaking Edmonton music community, having put in their time as touring machines, producers, artists, DJs, promoters and label bosses. They cite timeless influences such as Kraftwerk, Moroder, Daft Punk, and Trans Am, as well as more contemporary releases from labels such as Kitsune, Gomma, and DFA. Shout Out Out Out Out recently finished their forthcoming album, 'Not Saying / Just Saying'. Their debut 12 single is available on Normals Welcome Records (nrmls wlcm rcrds), and the full length album was released August 1st 2006. They will be touring extensively in support of both releases. In the past year they have had very well received showcases at NXNE and CMW in Toronto, as well as SXSW in Austin. |
