  Gavin Castleton - Hymn 2 - Women's Care in E Flat Major
Download   |   Stream
Gavin Castleton lives in the woods of Lincoln, RI, engineering, producing, and writing as many records as he can muster in a year. From 1995 to 2004 he performed across the country as keyboardist and 1/2 vocalist for futurock band Grüvis Malt, an obscure six-piece group from Providence RI. The band stopped touring in 2004, so Gavin spent the majority of 2005 in his home studio producing their fifth LP, "Maximum Unicorn." Ever since it's release, he's focused on releasing solo records (five to date), as well as producing and performing with a number of side projects: The Joe Beats Trio (featuring Joe Beats of Non-Prophets and DJ Signify), Facing New York, Club D'Elf (featuring John Medeski and various other jam scene bigwigs), One Drop (live drum n' bass hip hop band from Orlando, FL), and Ebu Gogo (ballistic instrumental trio from Providence, RI).
Gavin is currently diligently at work on his first full-length LP for Five One Inc. (Japanese based label, home to Eastern Youth, Sister Sonny, Even Johansen, and more). He has completed a five-song EP called "Hospital Hymns," about a 76-year-old hospital stockroom worker whose eccentric spirituality makes his coworkers uncomfortable. It will be released by Five One a few months before the full-length's release.

Over his 12-year career, Gavin Castleton has shared stages with Atmosphere, Buck 65, Prefuse 73, Mike Doughty, Brother Ali, Common, Subtle, RxBandits, The Roots, 13 & God, De La Soul, Ray LaMontagne, Mos Def, Sugarhill Gang, Wilco, 12 Rods, Black Moon, G Love and Special Sauce, Incubus, Maceo Parker, Custom, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Edon, 3rd Eye Blind, Save Ferris, Zox, Grand Buffet, State Radio, Luscious Jackson, Ozomatli, Joe Cocker, John Scofield, The Slip, Karl Denson, Paranoid Social Club, Awol One, Carbon Leaf, Rustic Overtones, Sixtoo, DJ Vadim & One Self, The Nature Kids, Virginia Coalition and others.
He has toured with Sage Francis (as support and backup band), Facing New York, One Drop, Subtle, 9 Miles, Monty, Shootyz Groove and others.
