X-WIFE

X-Wife are a post punk rock power trio from Portugal (4 playing live). They built themselves a great reputation as one of the freshest bands to surface the small Portuguese scene, and as one of the few national projects that could aim to break the boundaries of the local market.

Taking the Post-Punk legacy as their departing point, and the music of heroes like Suicide, P.I.L., Gang of Four or The Cure as their main source of inspiration, X-Wife celebrate here our Rock’n’Roll heritage in a more than updated version. Their sound is raw and acid and very distinctive, made of incredible bass lines, crunchy and distorted guitars, militant analog vintage drum-machine and synthesizers, dirty as we like, and bitter and screamed vocals, being already supported by reference radio stations like NYC’s WFMU and DJs like James Murphy (lcd soundsytem), Digitalism, Tomboy (Gomma) and 2 many djs.

x-wife released 2 albums "feeding the machine" in 2004 and "Side Effects" in April 2006. Played live almost everywhere in Portugal as well as in New York, London, Paris, Madrid and a six gigs mini-tour in Italy and supported bands such as LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax, Love is all and Liars.

We've been invited to the second issue of Electronic Bible, a compilation made by British indie label White Label Music, which also assured Feeding the Machine distribution in the U.K., that includes Large Number (Ann Shenton ex Add N to X), among others.

We also made a few Top 10 best Album of 2004 lists, from Fluxblog to WFMU's Terre T show.

We are signed to an Indie label (NorteSul)in Portugal and currently looking for distribution/deal worldwide.
