A Place To Bury Strangers
A Place To Bury Strangers was formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2003 by Oliver Ackermann (guitars, vocals). Oliver is the founder of the experimental electronics effect pedal company Death By Audio and runs the DBA recording studio/rehearsal spaces, and Kill Brooklyn Music. Feeling akin to the shoegazer movement, A Place To Bury Strangers have managed to create beautiful walls of lightning guitar sounds that make for dreamy My Bloody Valentine soundscapes while employing bits of industrial charm with real and programmed drums. The result is something both wistful and driving, drawing its credibility from a summation of influences and a commitment to creating sounds from scratch. Their live show uses experimental self made electronic instruments, hand mixed 16mm projected loops, and pure love to blast waves of chaos over simple Phil Spectoresque pop songs. With Jay Space on drums and Jono Mofo on bass, A Place to Bury Strangers are currently set to record their latest EP with John Mahoney (engineer for producer Andy Wallace).
