Genre: Singer-Songwriter Hometown: Austin TX
www.elizagilkyson.com
Three-time Austin Music Award Winner Eliza Gilkyson has been called one of the most original and influential folk artists of our time (This Is Texas Music). Elizas fourth album on Red House Records Paradise Hotel follows her 2004 Grammy nominated and critically lauded Land of Milk and Honey. Paradise Hotel is Gilkysons most personal album to date, featuring songs that artfully reveal the roots of her progressive patriotism, comment on the direction our world is headed and peel back the thin layers obscuring the heart of what matters in these complex times. Paradise Hotel has been lauded by critics and recently won her 4 Folk Alliance Music Awards. Eliza has appeared on NPRs All Things Considered, Austin City Limits, Air America Radio and has toured with Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin and Mary Chapin Carpenter. In February of 2003, Gilkyson was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame. The induction places Gilkyson alongside an exclusive list of Austin Music Hall of Fame greats, including Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, Billy Joe Shaver, Butch Hancock, Joe Ely and others.
