When you hear the Creteens�s Benji play guitar, scream and howl , you�ll know that late 90�s Memphis garage punk has traveled across the seas and into the ears of teenagers from Paris. The Creteens wear their influences on their sleeves I.e. the Oblivians, King Louie, the Reatards, 68 Comeback, Elvis Presley. They don�t brag originality, but sear you with punk perfection that is rooted in Southern blues. They have toured the US with Tennessee�s the Rat Traps and Orlando destructo snotty punks Fashion Fashion and the Image Boys. Benji does all the recordings at his basement bedroom in a comfortable Parisian squat. He turns up the gain and treble to fuzz out and speed up Bo Diddley guitar riffs and Chuck Berry structure and successfully evoke the same essence of rock and roll punk as his influences.
