Shedding
Shedding is Connor Bell of Louisville, Kentucky. He's been making music for years, crafting something out of electronic nothing with sounds neighboring Nurse with Wound, Ekkehard Ehlers, Mouse on Mars, and Faust. Rising from the quiet of one of Hometapes' first releases (Now I'm Shedding in 2003), Shedding's new album brings his work into greater focus.
Inspired by Eric Dolphy flute compositions and bird sounds, Shedding uses field recordings and samples to fuel his analog and digital dismantling on the new album "what god doesn't bless, you won't love; what you don't love, the child won't know." Combine that with his first foray (under this moniker) into recognizable traditionally recorded instrumentation (bass and drums) and we're left with a sequence of timeless, placeless, and ecstatic pieces which were perfected over three years through live performance alongside artists such as: Greg Davis, David Grubbs, Mountains, Dat Politics, Comets on Fire, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Joseph Suchy, and Collections of Colonies of Bees. Connor was formerly a member of the Temporary Residence experimental rock outfit Parlour, and is currently a member of Auxiliary Records' noise rockers at large, Wolverine Brass. |
