"Grifter City is something like a state of mind." From Oakland, California to Oslo, Norway, Grifter City has found a harmonizing voice that speaks for the two disparate cities. From different backgrounds but with the same love for hip-hop and blues, this trio has proven that lifestyles that clash can match through contrast. Their style has been compared to Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley and Atmosphere mixed in with organic sounds of blues- driven rock and roll. ::::::The Band:::::: Jamie Way of Oakland found his niche playing bass and rapping simultaneously in rock and hip-hop groups. The marriage of Emceeing and playing bass at the same time happened naturally. This has allowed him to broaden his horizons in his rythm pattern of lyrics and his ear for production. ::::::Chris Lee, a native of Oslo, Norway, has a balance between his finely tuned harmonic sensibilities and his smooth emceeing skills. His unique style captured the Norwegian audience, and his part in Grifter City is his next step to a wider fan base. :: :::Both musician brings a unique element to the group. They jam and create together, knowing that what comes next will sound like nothing else.
