Bubonic Plague
Genre: Avant/Experimental Hometown: Los Angeles CA
www.thebubonicplague.org
The Bubonic Plague is a band consisting of three girls and two guys from Los Angeles. They have been performing live shows together since 2004. Their music started off with a synthy, edgy brand of tongue-in-cheek goth music. Since then, the songs have grown more rich and complex, covering a range of styles, from altered disco to tropicalia.

Bubonic Plague never performs without the video projections of keyboardist and backing vocalist Emily Jane, whose video work is unique to each performance.

Bubonic front-woman Geneva Jacuzzi may have been the first lead singer to perform simultaneously in Europe and the United States. While she toured abroad with Ariel Pink, the band played alongside a pre-recorded, life-size projection of their lead singer, perfectly timed and complete with bored in-between-song antics - no minor feat for a completely self-produced live act.

Bubonic shows are almost always a coup, equal parts sulky, funny, and danceable. The band consistently plays for crowded houses, having performed with Ariel Pink, Moving Units and Adult.

Bubonic Plague is currently playing a steady stretch of West Coast gigs. They have played at venues including The Glasshouse, The Troubadour, The Echo, The Independant, Spaceland and The Hemlock Tavern. They also often play at art events including Otis College of Art and at the Williamson Gallery at Scripps College. All songs are recorded on four-track and eight-track tape. Members of the Bubonic Plague play/have played in Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Super Creep, Vibe central, The Centimeters, Hot Pajamas and Sex Carpet. Their debut self-released album "No Bosses No Bullsh*t" is available at Amoeba music in Los Angeles and Other Music in New York. A new EP, "Instant Coma," is released on Human Ear Music.
