Gods and Monsters - "Coming Clean"
Download   |   Stream
Guitarist extraordinaire Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley) unveils the latest edition of his longtime band Gods and Monsters on his new album "Coming Clean" (Mighty Quinn), which recently received four star reviews in MOJO, Uncut, and Record Collector, plus a rave from David Fricke in Rolling Stone: "Gary Lucas is one of the best and most original guitarists in America...he plays astounding guitar throughout, but always for the sake of the song." Comprising an avant-punk supergroup, Gods and Monsters features Gary on guitar and vocals plus Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) on keyboards and vocals, Billy Ficca (Television) on drums, Ernie Brooks (Modern Lovers) on bass and vocals, and Jason Candler and Joe Hendel on sax and trombone. Gods and Monsters play intense psychedelic rock with free jazz, blues and jamband overtones with a repertoire that also includes post-modern covers of Miles Davis, Suicide, and Syd Barrett classics. Time Out New York wrote: "The group is mindblowing!" The New Yorker: "An underground rock fan's dream team."
