Vincent Van Go Go Bio
With their background as a resident band at a local club in their native Denmark, its no wonder that Vincent Van Go Go is a band whose goal is to make music with a positive vibe to make people dance. Their music may be cheerful, but their debut albums skillful blend of reggae, pop, funk, and soul, with notes of hip hop, Latin, and jazz music, prove that these five musicians are not be taken lightly. From their impossibly catchy, bouncy title track to the wistful, acoustic sound of I Say Hey it is easy to see why their sound is moving audiences worldwide. Vincent Van Go Go originated as five multitasking friends dedicated to live performance; Johannes Johs Nrrelykke (vocals/guitar), Kristian Scooter Kold (bass), Thomas Terry Tester Mnsson (Scratches/samples), Dennis Ahlgren (keys) and Janus Nevel Ringsted (Drums) played together at a local club and collaborated with some of Denmarks favorite artists. Kristian Kold, Janus Nevel, and Dennis Ahlgren toured with Tina Dico, Johannes Nrrelykke toured with Tommy Boys Camille Jones, and Thomas Mnsson was busy producing hip-hop beats for a wealth of artists. The band had the defining moment in their career when they took a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The warmth of the country and its music added a new depth to the bands sound and they were inspired to take their music from the stage to the studio. The band began recording their first album right there in Brazil, a compilation of their best tracks over the past three years and when they finished recording in Denmark they were signed to Murena Records. Their newly inspired creative exploits did not go unnoticed; back in Denmark, the band began getting the attention of a number of Danish clubs, including the renowned Copenhagen club Mid Week Brake where they started to play regularly. Dedicated to their roles as performers first and foremost, the boys returned to Brazil, this time to perform live in various venues and along Ipanema beach, the perfect home for their summery sound. Their internationally palpable music began to cross borders, and Paris Radio Nova began giving them heavy airplay, leading to sold-out performances throughout the city in 2006. Despite the bands jet-setting, they remain loyal to their roots. Returning to their native Denmark for the Roskilde festival in 2006, the boys continue to bring their infectious, happy sound to the smiling masses, appropriately turning a festivals mud into a sunny, sandy beach (Soundvenue Magazine). |
