E>K>U>K is:
Jonathan Hylander: Guitar, Vocals Sean Johnson: Drums, Vocals Joseph Hylander: Bass,Vocals Raymond Gurrola: Guitar Vocals Emerging from the suburb of Los Angeles known as the South Bay, the band E>K>U>K formed in the winter of 2003. After a year of playing out as a three piece, the band decided they wanted to get more out of their sound. Following a West Coast tour and a few line-up changes that saw them adding a second guitarist and moving towards a more harmonic, focused sound, they settled with the line-up that exists today: Jonathan (22), Sean (23), Joseph (19), and Raymond (24). A fast, energetic rock band with an upbeat and harmonic sound reflecting influences from The Kinks to Dinosour Jr. , E>K>U>K puts on an energetic live set. In 2004, E>K>U>K put out two releases: a split CD and a Split 7”. As a result, the band received a lot of airplay on local radio stations such as the influential KXLU 88.9 FM in Los Angeles, where single "Psycho" was the number one requested song for the month of July. The band also provided Troma Films with the title track for the low budget slasher flick, "Slaughter Party." With their reputation as a live act building, E>K>U>K opened for bands such as Nightmare Of You, dios (malos), Be Your Own Pet, Dead Moon, and The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex (ex - Smashing Pumpkins) at the 2005 SXSW music festival. In October of 2005, E>K>U>K moved into a airplane hanger sized garage for two weeks, to record songs for their newest release, an EP entitled "Auto Exploder" that was released that November on Otik Records. "This band are awesome. America support your own. These guys are rock stars." -Alan McGee "Here's to breaking all the rules!" -Maximum Rock’n’Roll "The mad men of rock." -Flagstaff Weekly "If you haven't heard of this band yet, you wil.l" -NoFi Magizine "Fist flying balls out rock'n'roll that breaks down every boundary." -Synthesis |
