Sounds From Spain Showcase

amaral.jpgWe have some amazing acts from Spain this year coming together for the Sounds from Spain Showcase, featuring pop-rock sensation Amaral. Since their chart-topping debut album in 1998, the duo has continued to stand apart from other pop artists because of their poetic lyrics and experimentation with different elements of rock.

huecco.jpgRepresenting another aspect of Spain’s music is the genre-bending group Huecco, who blend Flamenco, reggae, samba, American rock and more to create a sound that lead singer Ivahn likes to call “Rumbaton”. After capturing audiences throughout Europe and touring Mexico, they are ready to take on the US this March. Also performing on the Encore Patio stage will be the guitar heavy, indie-rock sounds of Los Planetas and Unfinished Sympathy.

Nudozurdo.jpgThis show has a little bit of everything to represent the mosaic of Spain’s modern music and its influences. While artists like Huecco draw from traditional Spanish and Latin American sounds, newcomers Nudozurdo show the British new-wave influences that have long-since been part of Spanish music. Joining these artists on the Encore Patio stage is Tom Cary, who takes cues from early American and British punk to make his own unapologetic rock and roll and contribute to Spain’s unique musical landscape. This showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17 at the Encore Patio.

With the Feb. 12 registration deadline fast approaching, register now to be a part of the action this March at SXSW 2010.
