Important Hotel Reservation Information

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING YOUR ROOM

Who can book: SXSW registrants, panelists, exhibitors, and artists can reserve hotel rooms through SXSW Housing Desk.

Rates: Room rates are US$ per night based on number of guests in the room (1/2/3/4 people). Rates do not include occupancy tax (currently 15%) or personal charges. Rates for SXSW Music apply from Tuesday March 13 - Sunday March 18, 2007. Some hotels offer lower rates during SXSW Film/Interactive (Friday March 9 - Tuesday March 13, 2007). Priority for rooms with 2 beds will be given to requests listing 2 or more registrants.

Blocks (or miles): Indicates distance on the most direct route from the hotel to the Austin Convention Center.

Category: General indicator of hotel quality and service ranging from best luxury (+++++) to limited service (++).

Deadline: Popular downtown hotels often sell out as early as October and November. There is no general deadline for hotel reservations -- the SXSW Housing Desk will continue booking rooms until SXSW ends. But booking early ensures a reservation at your preferred hotel.

Changes: Make changes and cancellations with SXSW Housing (not the hotel) online using the Registrant Directory or email housing at sxsw.com or phone 512-452-3717x223.

Guarantee/Deposit: All hotels require a valid credit card guarantee. Some hotels will charge a deposit on March 1 as shown in their description.

Penalties: Your hotel confirmation will state deadline for cancellations without penalty (usually 24 hours to 7 days before arrival) and penalties for no-shows and late cancellations (usually 1 or 2 nights) and checkouts before scheduled checkout date.

Payment Options Upon arrival at your hotel, you must present the credit card to be billed or a cash deposit (unless you have completed a credit card authorization in advance or have pre-paid for your stay).

The hotel may provide their credit card authorization form if the credit card number used to guarantee the room is not in the name of the guest. If you know a credit card authorization needs to be completed prior to your arrival, you may use this PDF form or contact your hotel for their form.

If you wish to pre-pay for room and tax charges, you may use this PDF form or contact your hotel for their form.

It is each guest's responsibility to know what method of payment will be used upon check-in.

Showcasing artists: Do not book a hotel now unless you are buying a registration. Your showcase confirmation letter will provide hotel booking instructions.
