STAGE MANAGERS NEEDED!
Stage Managers work as a liaison between SXSW venues and performers. This is a position of significant responsibility. Stage Managers are responsible for managing the performance schedule and stage crew at one of the SXSW Music Festival venues. This involves a great deal of pre-event work, as well as availability throughout the Music Festival.
Stage Crew
Stage crew volunteers are assigned to one of the SXSW Music Festival venues, and will work in the same venue each night. The stage crew assists performers in loading equipment on and off the stage during set changes; communicates pertinent information to artists, stage managers and staff; and surveys the venue for problems.
This position requires no specific knowledge - just patience and the willingness to work hard and have fun. A team-oriented attitude and the ability to work well with all types of people are essential. At minimum, two meetings will be required of each crew member prior to the festival. One meeting will be a walk-through of the assigned venue.
For more information about stage crews, please contact Jimmy Grumbles.
Special Venues Crew
The Special Venues crew is a roaming team that assists clubs in need of additional staff in the evenings. This crew also assists at the Town Lake Stage at Auditorium Shores, and other special events. This crew handles lines and crowds at venues. Other duties include the responsibilities of a stage crew member or stage manager, as designated by the SXSW staff.
The ideal person would have a combination of patience and the flexibility to work in an "as-needed" capacity. Crew members are not specifically assigned to a club, but assist at any venue in need. The volunteer must be dependable, punctual and able to follow directions. No specific experience required. A minimum of two meetings required prior to the festival.
